Leadership Training

New Leaders: Leadership weekend is considered mandatory. All exceptions must be cleared with the Program Director.

Arrival: Please arrive between 5:00 and 5:45 on Friday, February 19. Check-in at the big house, and you will be told where you are sleeping.  Dinner will be at 6:00! Park in the registration lot. Unless given prior permission from the program director, leaders will not leave camp. Carpooling is a great idea!

Packing list: a sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries, work clothes, rain gear and cold-weather gear, flashlight, games or cards for free time. Boots and work gloves are encouraged for the Saturday work day.

Cost:  $25 for food and materials. You will pay when you check in. Checks can be made payable to Winnataska.

Schedule and objectives: We will be going over important information in the leader manual. We will also be working with other volunteers around camp Saturday afternoon. Saturday night we will have a worship service and a bonfire.

Departure:  We will dismiss Sunday morning as soon as living quarters are inspected, around 9 am. We are still working on the details of CPR training - if it works out, those who are staying for training will do so after dismissal.

Late arrivals and early departures: If you must leave for a school activity, please get prior permission from the program director. If you are coming late, please also let Mary Margaret know.  Any person that comes and goes other than the times listed needs to sign in and out at the camp office.

Returning Leaders: Returning leaders are encouraged to attend Leadership Camp on Saturday night.

Leaders spent a weekend in March getting to know each other and camp traditions. They learned about developmental behavior of different age groups, how to prevent homesickness, and using positive behavior management techniques. They also did a great deal of work around the camp!
